5/6 Beechworth Camp –

What a super camp!! 7 Brave teachers took 54 excited 5/6 Terang College and Noorat Primary School students off to Beechworth for 5 days/4 nights. Thank you to all the staff who gave up their week to make this camp possible.

The students were absolutely fantastic and their families should be so proud of them.  Each activity guide commended the students on their manners and the respect they showed for others.  This was pleasing to hear, but definitely not a surprise to us.  The camp manager, Jen, even said our kids were by far the best school they have had all year!!!!  She is looking forward to 2020!

Over the 5 days, we crammed in so much fun.

  • Scienceworks (Lightning Show and small group tours)
  • Snow day at Falls Creek (3 hour bus trip up the mountain)
  • Movie night (The Greatest Showman)
  • Blue Grass concert
  • Beechworth Gaol
  • Beechworth Court House (a re-enactment of Ned Kelly’s court hearing)
  • Beechworth Honey (yummo)
  • The Powder Magazine (storm damage made this hard to see, but the building was stunning)
  • The Gorge walk (a beautiful 5km walk)
  • Ned Kelly cartoon drawing session (who knew you could draw anything if you think of ‘it’ as letters, number, eggs and sausages?)
  • Gold panning (a few kids struck gold!)
  • Woolshed Falls hike (spotting mine shafts and amazing river diversions created by the miners)
  • Beechworth shopping (which involved cheap deals from the cartoonist, spending at the lolly shop and Beechworth Bakery)
  • Disco (amazing outfits and dance skills on show)

Hopefully, next week we will have a few recounts completed by students and you can read all about the camp adventures.  As there is so much to write about, they need a bit longer to finish them.  Stay tuned for the publications of these early next week.
