A special String Workshop for our violin, viola and cello students, and string students from other local schools, was held with the Australian Chamber Orchestra Collective string quartet in the Trade Training Centre at Terang College last Monday. The quartet were on their way to perform at the Lighthouse Theatre.
At the beginning of the Workshop, the ACOC string quartet played a few pieces for the string students, including some Danish folk songs. Students were mesmerised by their stunning playing!
String students rehearsed in a large orchestra with Maddi (First Violinist), Janet (Second violinist), Jackie (Violist) and Hamish (Cellist).
They played in the orchestra with students while Mrs Pugh conducted the orchestra, and gave students lots of tips on how they rehearse in their ACOC Orchestra! Students used these suggestions to improve their pieces, which they are preparing to play at Warrnambool Eisteddfod in mid June.
What an awesome experience it was for our string students to work with top national musicians!! Well done, everyone!!
We are most grateful to the ACO’s philanthropic funding that made this String Workshop possible.
