Greater Western Region Athletics – 17/09/18

Regional Athletics was our last sporting event for term 3 and what a great way to finish the term.

Fourteen students travelled to Brauerander Park in Warrnambool to the Greater Western Region Athletics, competing in a combined total of 22 events, against 49 schools from around the Region.

All Students performed extremely well with many PB’s and Top 3 finishers. Three students finished first in their events, which has qualified them for SSV State Track and Field Championships on 22nd October at Albert Park, Melbourne. The students who will competing at State Championships are:

Jorja Sharp for Shot Put, James Hookway for Javelin and Spencer Bourke in Shot Put.

Other college students who competed on the day are: Leah Bartlett, Ella Sharp, Shirene Morgan, Jack Cowan, Jaime Emerson, Caitlin Overweter, Jess Moloney, Sophie-Kate Shaw, Harrison Smith, Ingrid Cavarsan and Daniel Hookway.

Terang College finished 15th overall for the day, out of 49 schools and with 13 medals out of 22 events. This was an awesome result and all students should be very proud of their achievments on the day.

  • Ella Sharp: Hurdles 2nd,Long Jump 2nd, High Jump 3rd & PB & Triple Jump 6th
  • Jaime Emerson: Shot Put 3rd with 1m PB
  • Shirene Morgan: Long Jump 2nd, 100m dash 2nd and 200m dash 2nd
  • Caitlin Overweter: Discus 5th
  • Jessica Moloney: Shot put 3rd
  • James Hookway: Javelin 1st & 2.5m PB
  • Spencer Bourke: Shot Put 1st
  • Sophie-Kate Shaw: Shot Put 4th
  • Ingrid Cavarsan: Discus 3rd & 2.5m PB
  • Jack Cowan: 1500m run 9th & PB
  • Harrison Smith: Long Jump 5th & PB
  • Daniel Hookway: Long Jump 5th & PB
  • Leah Bartlett: 800m run 5th and 400m run 2nd
