On Tuesday 14 March, 2023, we had a team of 6 travel to Horsham to represent Terang College at the GWR Swimming Championships.
The first event commenced at 9.00am, so it was an early start for our team, Lynley and Jackenzie Sharp, Ben Carlin, Edward Delaney, Chloe Clifford and Harpa McMaster.
All students swam exceptionally well with some outstanding results and PB’s.
Ben finished 4th in 16-year boys 50 mt Butterfly and Freestyle, and Edward also touched 4th in 16-year boys 50 mt backstroke. Great swimming boys.
Lynley and Jackenzie competed against each other in the 12-14 MC Freestyle, Backstroke and Breaststroke. Lynley walked away with 1st place in 50 mt Freestyle and Jackenzie 2nd. In the 50 mt Backstroke Jackenzie just tapped out Lynley to claim 1st place and Lynley 2nd. After winning an event each, both girls have qualified to compete at the SSV State Swimming Championships in Melbourne on Friday 28th April. Awesome swimming girls.
Harpa and Chloe both competed in the 11-year girls 50 mt Butterfly. Harpa, who was swimming at her first regional event, finished 3rd in her heat with a massive 4 second PB, and Chloe finished 6th in her heat.
Congratulations to all swimmers, great effort to compete at this level against some much larger schools, and finally, a big thankyou to parents and grandparents for their support and driving the students to Horsham.
