Year 11 & 12 PE Excursion – BioLAB
The Year 11 & 12 VCE PE class recently visited Biolab in Geelong. Biolab is a state-wide educational resource focused on providing inspiring and engaging programs for students, teachers, and the community. Their programs specialise in highlighting cutting edge medical, health and sports biosciences.
Terang students had the opportunity to wear a range of GPS and tracking devices while participating in Netball, later analysing their data in a sports science session.
Riley also stepped up and completed the gruelling Vo2max Test. Students got to watch Riley’s data collecting and adjusting in real time, while making judgements about which energy systems were in play and where Riley’s body was getting its energy (ATP) supply from. Riley’s results compared against normative data (age 13-19) show he is in the ‘Superior’ bracket of the population.
Well, done to all the students and staff who attended. Watching the Vo2 max being performed in real time was a once in a lifetime opportunity.
