Dunkeld Day Trip
On Tuesday 23rd November the year 5/6s went to The Grampians Retreat camp in Dunkeld. We left school at 7:30am and arrived in Dunkeld at 9:00am. After discussing what the day would look like and meeting the camp workers we were put in our groups and headed off to the first activity.
The activities consisted of the giant swing, flying fox, bush arts and crafts and identifying evidence of water and land creatures.
The giant swing is a 30-foot-high swing ran by Kim, a worker at the Grampians Retreat. The flying fox started off at a wooden platform and we were harnessed to the zipline. We then stepped off the platform and went sliding down the line. Bush arts and crafts started by picking a fern with Nerissa. We went inside and chose a piece of bark, Nerissa told us our elements signs and we started our art by painting the bark. The living creature activity was with Lisa and we had to find evidence of living creatures on the land and in the water.
In-between activities we had morning tea, fruit, cordial and hedgehog, which was delicious. Lunch which was hamburgers, cordial and a delicious rainbow cake. We took afternoon tea with us when we went off after lunch, it was rum balls and fruit.
We all met at the bus after thanking everyone for an amazing day and travelled back to school. We got back around 6.00pm. The whole day was very fun and a great experience for all of us.
