Year 7/8 ‘Branch Out’ Excursion
November 18, 2024
On Monday 11th November a group of Year 7/8 students attended an excursion to Pearson’s Nursery in Allansford and the Worn Gundidj Native Nursery in Warrnambool.
As an immersive experience the students had the opportunity to participate in several activities which were inclusive of some of our learning this term. We had a focus on planting new seeds, propagating plant cuttings, transferring seedlings to larger pots/punnets, understanding the advantages of growing plants in a greenhouse, as well as furthering our understanding of the process of photosynthesis. It was also a great opportunity to taste some of our native plants and have an understanding of what they are used for as far as cooking and medicinal purposes. The students had a fantastic experience and we all got a lot out of the day. A huge thanks to both venues for hosting us for a few hours of their day and we look forward to continuing our collaboration in the future.
