Years 7 to 9

The middle years focus on engagement, connection, and skill development as students transition into secondary learning.

Our Yr 7-9 Sub School plays in integral role in the transition from primary school education and creating pathways into senior secondary schooling.

We ensure that our Year 7 students homegroup staff are also core teachers, to help build connection and comfortability with secondary schooling. Our wellbeing team, which consists of of highly trained professionals, work closely with new students to aid in the transition to a new school. We also run an extensive Step-up program in the year prior to beginning secondary school, to help alleviate any nerves or burning questions about the following year.

In all Yr 7-9 core subjects, the Explicit Direct Instruction teaching model is used, which is proven to improve student outcomes in Literacy & Numeracy. Students have access to subjects such as: Product and Design, Cooking, Agriculture, STEAM, Creative Arts, Landscaping, Duke of Edinburgh, Work Related Skills and Courtyard Café. This allows students to identify what their interests and passions are to help them decide their senior secondary school pathway, whether this pathway be VCE or VCE/VM.

Year 7-9 students have the wonderful opportunity to attend extracurricular activities such as:

  • Adventure Based Camps (Halls Gap, Anglesea, Port Fairy)
  • School for Student Leadership, an immersive State-wide residential program for Year 9 students.
  • Range of excursions & incursions
  • Interschool Sports
  • House Swimming & Athletics
  • Music Lessons
  • Eisteddfods
