The Year 7 transition program supports students as they move into secondary school, helping them feel confident, connected, and prepared for the next stage of learning.
In the year prior to beginning at Terang College, future students are invited to attend a weeklong ‘Step-Up’ program to become familiar with their surrounds, staff and future peers. This takes place in December and is a big part of a successful transition at the beginning of Year 7.
At the beginning of the year, Year 7 students participate in a ‘Learn to Learn’ program which prepares them for secondary schooling. This program includes pro-social lessons, ICT preparedness, subject specific essentials and team building activities.
If the student, family or school feels that a particular individual is finding the transition to secondary school difficult, the college’s well-resourced wellbeing team will provide tailored support.
